Q: What is the purpose of this training?

To provide a high-level overview of the opportunities available in Right of Way (ROW) and the basic skills to help get you “in the door” and allow you to identify the area(s) of ROW that best fit your interests and skillset.

Q: Who is this training for?

This training is designed for individuals with no previous ROW background and are interested in entering the ROW profession sometime within next 24 months, as well as newer ROW agents that are considering transitioning into a different role or desire to be cross trained in a different area to increase utility (i.e., a Document Specialist moving to a Title Agent, or a ROW Acquisition Agent that desires to learn Title).

Q: How do active CLS employees enroll for the program?

CLS employees can self-enroll for the program in the CLSU learning platform. From the CLSU learning platform home page, CLS employees will click SAML SSO to access the program. CLS employees should only access the program by clicking SAML SSO. Active CLS employees will not need to create a new account.

Q: How much does this training cost?

The program is offered free of charge to provide a high-level overview of the ROW Industry. As such, instructor support is limited only to the presentation material offered in the sessions. It is recommended that the learner write any questions down and ask your current or future ROW employer for clarification.

Q: Are sessions in this program accredited?

No, the sessions are not accredited by any school or university, and they do not take the place of on-the-job training, AAPL or IRWA certifications. CLS strongly encourages that learners desiring a more in-depth knowledge base of Right of Way pursue AAPL or IRWA certifications. Click each of their websites to learn more. Q: How do I register?

Learner is to create a one-time account to access all sessions in the program. By answering the questions, you submit your information to the CLS University Training Department, who will use it to communicate with you regarding the sessions offered and future CLS training opportunities. Click here for instructions to create an account. Upon creating your account, you will be notified via email within two business days on how to access the program. Note, try checking your spam or junk folder if you do not see the email.

Q: How long do I have access to the sessions in the program?

Learner will have access to all sessions in the program for one calendar month. The program begins on the 1st of the registered calendar month and closes on the last day of the month. Learner can complete all sessions at their own pace but will only have access during the month in which they are enrolled. Learners will lose access to the content material and program access at the end of the month.

Q: How are sessions in the program conducted?

Sessions are conducted within the CLSU online learning platform. Upon registering, you will receive an automated email requiring you to verify your email address. Once verified, you may enroll in the course/program. You will be able to login to the learning platform; however, you will not receive access to course content until course begins on the first of the calendar month you’re enrolled. Sessions are available 24/7 and you can take the session at your own pace within the month registered. All sessions must be completed in the program to earn the certificate of completion. Q: What if I am not enrolled by the first day of the month when the program is offered? Can I join mid-month?

If you are not enrolled by the first of the month, you may still register for the program, but all session work must be completed by the end of the month. (Example: You register for the program on the 15th of the month. You will only have 15-16 days to complete all session material, as your access will end on the last day of the month.) Keep in mind it takes approximately 20-24 hours to complete all sessions in the program. Current calendar month enrollment closes on the 15th of every month.

Q: What if I miss deadline to complete the program?

Learner is responsible to complete all sessions in the program before the end of the month. If the learner misses the deadline due date<, learner will have to enroll in a future month the program is offered, losing all previous progress. All previously completed sessions must be taken again.

Q: If I need to re-enroll or take the program again, what do I do?

If learner needs to enroll again at a later time, either to complete the program or to just refresh their skills prior to taking on a new position, learner may enroll in a future time period in which the program is offered by going to the CLS homepage and clicking on the link for the desired month. Keep in mind, learners will have to repeat the entire program as previous history will not be available.

Q: How often is this program offered?

This program will be offered twelve times a year, starting on the first of every calendar month and ending on the last day of the month. Each calendar month provides a new opportunity for people to learn about the basics of the Right of Way Industry!

Q: Will I have access to an instructor for Q&A?

The program is offered free of charge to help introduce you to the Right of Way industry. As such, instructor support is limited only to the presentation material offered in the sessions. It is recommended that the learner write any questions down and ask your current or future ROW employer for clarification.

Q: Can I only take the sessions I’m most interested in?

You may stop taking the sessions in the program at any time; however, all sessions must be taken in sequential order. You may not opt for only taking specific sessions. The goal of the program is to give you a high-level understanding of the Right of Way industry. As such, we require that everyone take the full program to ensure basic knowledge of many aspects of the industry.

Q: Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes, if you complete all sessions of the Right of Way Career Training Program and pass the final exam, you will receive a certificate of completion for clock hours earned. Certificate will be available in the learning platform for download after completing all sessions. Certificate of completion is in no way affiliated with the previous CLS-sponsored Right of Way Certificate Program offered by UHD.

Q: What if I fail to pass the final exam?

The goal of the program is to learn the issues, tasks, challenges, strategies and other pertinent hands-on information that Right of Way professionals utilize in the Right of Way industry. Therefore, the curriculum is meant to educate and convey practical and relevant information in such a manner that all learners who take the ROW sessions will be prepared to successfully complete the session knowledge check questions and final exam.

Learner has an unlimited number of attempts to pass knowledge checks and have 5 attempts to pass the final exam. Learners who do not pass the final exam after 5 attempts will not receive a certificate of completion. Learners desiring a certificate of completion may enroll in a future calendar month. Keep in mind, learners will have to repeat the entire program as previous history will not be available.

Q: Does the CLSU ROW Career Training Program include online books or other printed materials?

Materials such as PDFs for each session are made available for the learners to download. This includes a PowerPoint PDF handout (in black/white or color) and other PDFs if available. These materials have been prepared solely for educational purposes.

Q: Does this ensure I get a job with CLS?

Successful “graduates” who complete all sessions in the program will be given a priority status to be notified of job opportunities that fit your abilities and geographical preferences. This is not a guarantee of employment, but a pledge to ensure that you have the opportunity to apply for positions for which you are a suitable candidate.

Q: Will I get compensated for attending this training?

No compensation is provided for the training. This training is provided for you free of charge and you may choose to join the training at your discretion. You enroll for the training voluntarily, on your own time, and should not be considered part of your normal workday.
